Leaders Riyaan continued their impressive form and have now clocked up five consecutive victories to nail down top spot in the standings. Furthermore, rampant Riyaan posted the highest ever team score in European Cricket Series history when racking up 197 in their comprehensive rout of the Nicosia Tigers.
Opener Sibtal Hassnain smoked 72 off 24 balls with swift contributions from Attah Ullah (24 off 7), Shoaib Ahmad (55 off 20) and Tayyab Bashir (25 off 9). In all, the rampant Riyaan batsmen roasted 15 sixes and 16 fours in their 10 over allocation in their thumping 98 run victory over the toothless Nicosia Tigers. Captain Shoaib Ahmad followed his batting blitz with 5-14 with the ball in a genuine man of the match performance.
Despite that heavy defeat, Nicosia Tigers still sit nicely in second ahead of the Cyprus Eagles CTL who didn’t feature on Thursday. Ultimately, Nicosia Fighters will battle it out with the winless Lankan Lions Limassol for the wooden spoon.
