PREVIEW: MATCH 11 – Riyaan CC v Nicosia Tigers – European Cricket Series Cyprus

Tune in to the live action Thursday from 9am CEST * 8am UK * 7am GMT * 12:30pm IST from the Ypsonas Cricket Ground in Cyprus.

Team Preview for Riyaan CC

Riyaan CC were highly fancied going into the series but dropped the series opener against the Nicosia Tigers. They have won the three games since and will be out for revenge in the rematch!

Captain: Shoaib Ahmed

Main Wicketkeeper: WCP Wellege

Key Players:

Atta Ullah is the man who scored 250 in a T20 match two months ago. He's been pretty good in this tournament too, leading the run scoring with 166 through the first four matches. He has a top score of 64 not out but I feel like is it inevitable that he will score something higher before the week is done.... He's also the leading six hitter in Cyprus this week, with 16 maximos. He's also chipped in with the ball, picking up 3 wickets so far..

Sibtal Hassnain will open the batting and is also their joint leading wicket taker. He has an amazing economy rate of only 4.75 which is the best of anybody in the tournament.

Tayyab Bashir impressed me with his energetic pace bowling. He will be looking for early breakthroughs to stifle the opposition innings from the beginning.

Team Preview for Nicosia Tigers

Nicosia Tigers are the most improved side in Cyprus over the last couple of months. They upset Riyaan in the first match of the tournament and their only loss to date was against the Cyprus Eagles. Can lightning strike twice and hand the Tigers a second victory over Riyaan in ECS Cyprus?

Captain: Faysal Mia

Main Wicketkeeper: Yasir Khan

Key Players:

Mangala Gunasekara looked ok with 46 in their first match of Wednesday but followed up with a golden duck against the Fighters. I’m still waiting for “THE BIG GUN” to fire, but when he does he will be a match-winner.

Roman Mazumder is the second-highest run-scorer in the series but has the highest individual score of the week so far, a very classy 80 not out off 36 balls against the Sri Lankan Lions.

YasirKhan picked up a minor injury upon his return to the side but we expect him to take his place behind the stumps and at the top of the order for the Tigers. He was their leading run scorer in the last series.

Mr Maximo’s tip: RIYAAN CC

I’m not going to lie: Cyprus predictions are keeping me up at night. I’m 0 for 3 and very worried that there’s more pain around the corner after this match! I’m going to go for Riyaan to win this game, led by a big knock from Atta Ullah. All jokes aside, it’s fantastic that there’s such evenness between the teams in Cyprus so that predicting results is about as difficult as it gets! Tune in on ECN for all the action on Day 4.
