PREVIEW: MATCH 11 – Barbarian CC v MU Dons – European Cricket Series Bulgaria

Tune in to the live action Wednesday from 8am CEST * 7am UK * 6am GMT * 11:30am IST from the National Sports Academy Vasil Levski ground in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Team Preview for Barbarian CC

The Barbarians may be winless after four games but I love the amount of Bulgarian talent they are developing. It would be great if they could snatch a win or two before the week is through.

Captain: Stuart Clarkson

Main Wicketkeeper: Jevon Payne

Key Players:

Jevon Payne might not be the youngest member of their team, but he has shown he is still a solid bat and can do the job behind the stumps.

Boyko Ivanov is a top order batsman who is also an option to open the bowling. If he does, he’ll have his hands full with the MU Dons top order full of confidence after their performances in the series so far.

Ivaylo Katzarski is a veteran of Bulgarian cricket. He’s a good all-round player who could be thrown up to the top of the order in this match in order to try and get something going.

Alexander Stoychev is another homegrown talent. He has picked up a wicket in the series so I would love to see him get another bowl. He’s a bit of a wild card for his captain!

Team Preview for MU Dons

The Dons have won three out of their five matches in the tournament so far, their only two losses coming at the hands of the Indo-Bulgarian side. They play twice on Wednesday.

Captain: Kiran Dasan

Main Wicketkeeper: Saim Hussain

Key Players:

Kiran Dasan has had success at international level and he has shown his class in this tournament so far. Their captain and opening batsman is averaging over 200 in the series and has been batting like a millionaire. He is also a tight bowler when he brings himself on.

Sulaiman Ali will bat number three and I’ve been predicting he has a big innings in him all week. He didn’t face many balls on Day 2 but looked good – perhaps this will be the match where he breaks out.

Karthik Sreekumar bowls dangerous inswingers and I think he’ll be tough work for the Barbarian top order. His economy rate of 6.75 is outstanding under these conditions.

Asad-Ali Rehemtulla now has seven wickets for the series and is always in the action. In addition to his bowling and fielding skills, he has shown he can whack the ball a long way with the bat in hand – he just hasn’t been required to bat too often!

Mr Maximo’s tip: MU DONS

I really love what the Barbarians are all about, but I think they’re going to have to play the game of their lives to match it with the MU Dons, who have not been troubled in this series except in their matches against Indo-Bulgarians. I think the Dons will have too much dynamite for the Barbarians to handle and will win the opening match of Wednesday. Don’t miss a ball of the five T10 games on Wednesday, live on the European Cricket Network!
