PREVIEW: MATCH 25 – Fateh v Catalunya CC – European Cricket Series Barcelona November

Tune in to the live action Tuesday from 8:30am CET * 7:30am UK/GMT * 1pm IST from the Montjuïc ground in Barcelona, Spain.

Team Preview for Fateh

Fateh CC opened their ECS account with a memorable golden ball win last month and finished with a winning record in that tournament. It’s true to say however that they've have a much more difficult time of it so far in November, losing all three games they've played. Things don't get any easier for them with two difficult games against the two top of the table teams on Tuesday, Catalunya CC and Pak I Care.

Captain: Manjinder Singh-Lovely

Main Wicketkeeper: Manish Kumar-Tokhi

Key Players:

Manjinder Singh-Lovely can bat in the top order and bowl too. His highest score of 25 is the highest score of any of their batsmen in this series so it’s clear that somebody has to step up. Perhaps the captain is the man for that job.

Happy Singh hasn’t had a very happy time so far in November, after he was the leading run-scorer for Fateh in the previous series. He looks a bit out of touch and low on confidence, but hopefully he can turn things around in this match.

Trilochan Singh has been a fantastic pick-up from Gracia CC. He has bossed it with the ball in the three matches so far, accumulating five wickets for his new club.

Team Preview for Catalunya CC

Spain's European Cricket League 2019 representatives have been the form team in Barcelona, winning the October Series after going unbeaten in that tournament... although their mantle is being challenged somewhat in this tournament by Pak I Care who have also looked very strong. They have won five out of their 6 games and with two preliminary matches to play, they look assured of a place on Finals Friday. They are without their regular captain “THE BIG MAK” Muhammad Armghan Khan for this series, but they have drafted in players who have ensured the team is still as imposing as ever.

Captain: Nisar Ahmed

Main Wicketkeeper: Rauf Zaman

Key Players:

Farrukh Sohail was in rare touch on Friday night, smashing 77 off only 25 balls against Raval Sporting in the final match of the first week in Barcelona in an innings that contained no less than TEN maximos! He is in devastating form and who’s to say he won’t repeat the dose against Fateh.

Ibrar Hussain has been out of this world for his new club, with 11 overs yielding 11 wickets for the all-rounder. He has also contributed over 100 runs for Catalunya CC and has catapulted himself into the conversation for Player of the Series.

Yasir Ali opened this tournament with a brutal 94 and is their leading run-scorer to this point. This talented and experienced batsman consistently scores at over two runs per ball faced and I think he could ton up in this game!

Mr Maximo’s tip: CATALUNYA CC

There is a little bit of David versus Goliath about this matchup. Fateh haven’t been too bad with the ball in hand, but their batting has consistently let them down over the past month. I can’t see them containing strong opposition, and so predict Catalunya CC to win the first match of Tuesday in the European Cricket Series. Both Catalunya CC and Pak I Care have won five out of six matches now and so are jostling for the tag of favourites to lift the trophy come Finals Friday!
