PREVIEW: WEEK 4, MATCH 2 – Brno Raptors vs Brno Rangers – ECN Czech Super Series

Tune in to the live action Saturday from 12pm CEST * 11am UK * 10am GMT * 3:30pm IST from the Brno Cricket Ground in the Czech Republic.

Team Preview for Brno Raptors

Brno Raptors field a largely inexperienced lineup, but with a couple of senior players guiding the way.  This is a great opportunity for the Raptors to show they feel at home in the T10 format.

Captain & Main Wicket-Keeper: Varun Mehta

Key Players:

Jan Hoffmann is a former national team player and Brno captain, but plays more of a mentoring role these days.  He will hope to smash the bowling like he did in his prime.

Muhammad Ansar is likely to open the batting and is one player that has the ability to find the boundary, or go over it!  He is a key component of the Raptors putting together a defendable score.

Varun Mehta leads the side while also carrying the wicket-keeping duties.  It will be vital that he keeps his players in the right frame of mind, even when things aren’t going their way.

Team Preview for Brno Rangers

Brno Rangers boast several current Czech national representatives.  It will be interesting to see if this experience translates into the shortest version of the game.

Captain: Naveed Ahmed

Main Wicket-Keeper: Ushan Gunathilake

Key Players:

Naveed Ahmed is one of the leading spin bowlers in the country.  Over 50% of his wickets are bowled or LBW, so you can be sure he will be deadly accurate.

Ushan Gunathilake is a panther behind the wickets, with exceptionally quick hands.  Last season he had more stumpings than catches, so the batsmen better watch out for him prowling behind them.

Vikram Padigala is a good hitter of a cricket ball, in addition to being a bowling option for his captain.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see him thrown up the order to light the spark.

MR MAXIMO’S TIP: BRNO RANGERS

The Rangers look very good on paper, so I’m not game to tip against them.  The Rangers to win their opening match of the tournament.
