Team Preview for SG Findorff

SG Findorff were the story of 2019, making it all the way to the European Cricket League final, but they had a shock to their system in their last appearance on Monday, blowing 100 runs in the last five overs in a shock loss to PSV Hann. Münden.  Prowling just outside the four but with three games to play, it is time for them to make their run.

Captain: Hamid Wardak

Main Wicket-Keeper: Fakhar Ahmed

Key Players:

Ammar Khalid blasted eight sixes from the 14 balls he faced in a stunning 52 on Monday.  He only knows one way, and I can see him losing many more cricket balls in the three Thursday matches.  Also is also a useful off spin bowler, he will be called on to keep things tight in the middle overs.

Hamid Wardak is a class player at the top of the order.  He is very versatile and can play according to the situation.  This is a great opportunity for the German international to stamp his authority on the tournament.

Aziz Dawodzy is a larger-than-life character who looked in good form in the Monday matches.  He will be a key component of their batting unit and has the power to clear the ropes regularly.

Team Preview for SC Europa

SC Europa are still in contention after a stunning upset of hosts Kummerfelder SV first up on Day 3.  They cling to a spot in the final four with a 2-2 record, but they would have to upset SG Findorff in this match in order to guarantee themselves a semi-final berth.

Captain: Gaurav Singh-Rathore

Main Wicket-Keeper: Brijesh Prajapati

Key Players:

Sahel Darwesh has impressed me with his leadership qualities.  He has performed steadily with the bat, but will need to step it up a gear if they are going to match the powerful SG Findorff unit.  It is a little concerning that his top score of 30 is the highest individual score for the SC Europa team.

Shabeer Ahmad has looked a dangerous bowler at times, but can be expensive too.  He will have to produce something special to tear through the Findorff top six.

Hikmanullah “AB” Shinwari came into some form with the bat on Day 3 after a very slow start with the stick in his initial appearances, and has spin bowling has come through in some tight situations.  His stock is rising, but is it enough to trouble SG Findorff?

Mr Maximo’s tip: SG Findorff

Findorff feature in all three of the final preliminary matches on Thursday, including a mouth-watering showdown with arch rivals KSV in the second match of the day.  Their loss against PSV on Monday would have been stinging all week and they will be itching to get back out on the field and show the kind of power that made them the premier short-format side in Germany last season.  SC Europa have shown they are worthy of the ‘giant killers’ tag, but you’d have to be very brave to tip them to pull off another upset.  I’m not.  SG Findorff to win comfortably.
