European Cricket Network events have been played all across Europe in 2020 with over 700 matches in 20 countries. We take a look back at special memories from a historic year for European Cricket, starting with our very first event - Dream11 European Cricket Series Alicante in March.
Ex-Surrey batsman Eddie Ballard made history by racking up the first ever century in the Dream11 European Cricket Series.
Ballard mullered a magnificent 107 off 35 balls for Sporting Alfas on the second day of the Dream11 European Cricket Series Alicante.
Eddie Ballard, 31, a former Surrey and MCC player, was introduced to Alfas by their young Spanish international Jack Perman, having played club cricket in England together for Bishops Stortford.
Speaking about his experience playing in the Dream11 European Cricket Series Alicante: "It was a fantastic competition to be involved in. Having not experienced any T10 cricket before, it was great to get the opportunity to play in this format of the game,” Ballard said.
Ballard went ballistic right from the start, brutalising 55 runs from the opening three powerplay three overs.
Recalling his innings: “It was nice to get in and find the boundary immediately. I started well the day before but couldn’t keep going. So, it was great to bat for a longer period and post a big score.”
Before departing for a majestic 107, Ballard continued to find the boundary with ease, hitting 13 fours and 7 sixes, reaching a magnificent century from only 31 balls.
