Team Preview for Cyprus Eagles CTL

Cyprus Eagles CTL had an amazing final day of preliminary competition, chasing down 145 in only 6.2 overs against the Nicosia Tigers before a dramatic golden ball finish against Riyaan after hitting a six off the final ball of regulation to tie the match. This win took them to the top of the standings with seven wins out of their eight matches. Mehran Khan is battling a minor injury and is likely to be rested from this game, the gamble being that the Eagles can reach the final risking him.

Captain: Murali Alanki

Main Wicketkeeper: Zeeshan Sarwar

Key Players:

Gurpratap Singh was a little disappointing in his first couple of appearances as an Eagle but definitely made up for it on Saturday, steering his new side to two remarkable victories. He scored 178 runs without being dismissed for the day off only 57 balls, despite being in obvious discomfort due to a leg injury. The golden ball hero will look to reproduce that form on Super Sunday.

Kulwinder Singh is likely to open the batting with Gurpratap and was also destructive on Saturday, striking 92 off only 27 balls across the two matches. He is also a lively bowler who can pick up wickets.

Zeeshan Sarwar is an impact player. He will do an important job with the gloves and is a destructive middle-order hitter.

Team Preview for Sri Lankan Lions Limassol CC

The Sri Lankan Lions finished with 2-6 record but will be boosted by a confidence-building win against the Tigers yesterday, the first time they had beaten one of the "Big Three". They will be huge underdogs in this game but that win should remind them that anything’s possible in the European Cricket Series!

Captain & Main Wicketkeeper: Nalin Pathirana

Key Players:

BLCS Kumara has been the standout performer for the Lions with 255 runs for the week and a top score of 66. Super Sunday is the perfect platform for him to show his true quality.

Chamal Sadun has been their other shining light with 112 runs and seven wickets in the series. He has a big part to play in the semi-final.

Samith Mapalagama has been a very effective bowler when available, with six wickets from only three appearances this week.

Mr Maximo’s tip: CYPRUS EAGLES CTL

What a breathtaking couple of performances we saw from the Eagles on Saturday. Their big recruits fired and it was a delight to watch. I believe the Eagles will be far too strong for the Lions in the first semi-final and are likely to meet Riyaan CC in the gold final, a rematch of the golden ball game from Saturday. Tune in to ECN for all the action on the last day of the European Cricket Series Cyprus!
