Captain: Haroon Mughal

Wicketkeeper: John Grima

Projected Top Four: Nowell Khosla, Zeeshan Khan, Fanyan Mughal, Haroon Mughal

Projected Opening Bowlers: Noshair Akhter, Waseem Abbas

Spin Options: Sidharth Anand

MARSA Key Players:

Nowell Khosla, right handed opening batsman, natural strokemaker, second highest run scorer in the previous edition amassing 235 runs including 21 maximos. Had an ordinary day with the bat on Wednesday but finished as top wicket taker for MAR scalping four victims at a mere economy of FOUR.

Zeeshan Khan, one of the top players for Marsa, is fearless and loves to take on the new ball bowlers, racked up 211 runs in the previous edition. Top scored for Marsa on Wednesday scoring 86 runs from two matches with eight LONG maximos.

Niraj Khanna, the right-handed middle order batsman racked up 77 runs in the two games on Wednesday including a crafty half century and was named man of the match for this effort.

Fanyan Mughal, right handed batsman, left arm fast bowler, death over specialist, scored 164 runs at an SR of 208 and picked up seven wickets in the previous edition.

Waseem Abbas, national team opening bowler, gets good movement off the seam, joint leading wicket-taker in the last edition with 10 scalps, his height helps extract good bounce off the pitch that troubles batsmen. He was the hero for his side in the opening game of the season hitting two 13 runs from 3 balls to take Marsa over the line.

Captain: Michael Goonetilleke

Wicketkeeper: Gopal Thakur

Projected Top Four: Ryan Bastiansz, Michael Goonetilleke, Zeeshan Yousaf, Gopal Thakur

Projected Opening Bowlers: Muhammad Bilal, Zeeshan Yousaf

Spin Options: Jojo Thomas, Ryan Bastiansz, Azwan Kamaleen,  Eranga Jayawardhana,  Aneel Shahid

Zeeshan Yousaf, all-rounder, big hitting opener, moves the ball both ways, picked up eight wickets leading the wicket taking charts and piled up 150 runs in the previous edition, is a good outfielder too. Played a good hand in both the matches scoring 36 runs in two games but he will look to score big in the coming matches.

Gopal Thakur, go-to-man with the bat for SOC in ECS Malta 2020, leading run-scorer racking up 199 runs with a best of 54.

Ryan Ricky Bastiansz, scores quickly, is good off the back foot, mustered 175 runs including 15 towering sixes in the previous edition.

Jojo Thomas, right arm finger spinner, joint leading wicket taker scalping eight wickets with a best of 2-9 in December 2020. Picked up five wickets in two games on Monday leading the wicket taking sheets for SOC. Has conceded under six runs an over with a best return of 3-17.

Southern Crusaders will be keen to open their account after enduring a tough opening day losing both their matches including a dramatic Golden Ball. However, SOC face a stiff challenge in the form of group favourites and reigning champions Marsa who have the opportunity to assume top spot in Group A after AUK and AUM shared the spoils on Wednesday. Incidentally, SOC had the wood over MAR winning both group stage games last year, but Marsa came out victorious when it mattered - in the semifinal - and later went on to become champions.

Last time they met: MAR 131 def SOC 88 (4 Dec 2020)

Match Prediction: Marsa (MAR) are expected to win this double header and make it four straight wins, but SOC will provide a tough test.

Wicketkeeper: Sam Aquilina

Projected Top Four: Cornelius Younus, Azeem Sathi, Michael Nazir, Sam Aquilina

Projected Opening Bowlers: Lazar Sharooon, Faisal Naeem

Spin Options: Michael Nazir, Atif Sharazy

MATER DEI Key Players:

Michael Nazir, former national team player, decent batsman who times the ball very well. A crafty off-spinner who can deceive batsmen with his change in pace. Top scorer for MTD after two games on Tuesday with 39 runs to his name.

Salman Khan, experienced off-spinner, is the joint top wicket taker MTD scalping FIVE wickets from two matches with a best return of 3-4.

Cornelius Younus, left-handed opening batsman who likes to go after the bowlers from ball one. Expect quick runs if he gets going. He is the top scorer for MTD with 66 runs from four matches .

Azeem Sathi, a destructive right handed batsman, and fierce medium pace bowler, has mustered 48 runs and is the joint leading wicket taker with five victims to his name. He has also won a man of the match award for his all-round performance.

Captain: Jerin Jacob

Wicketkeeper: Rajeesh Jawaharlal / Ajeesh Antony

Projected Top Four: Milton Devasia, Jerin Jacob, Ajeesh Antony, Senthil Raj

Projected Opening Bowlers: Renju Ravi, Shibil Palakkalappi

Spin Options: Milton Devasia, Jerin Jacob, Tanu Babu

GOZO Key Players:

Milton Devasia, a decent spinner capable of deceiving batsmen, has picked up four wickets, and has scored 53 runs topping the scoring sheets for Gozo.

Sandeep Sasikumar, the right arm fast bowler was the most impressive GOZ bowler on debut. On a day when all his counterparts were being thrashed to all parts of the ground, he conceded  just SEVEN runs per over. He now leads the wicket taking sheets for his side with FOUR scalps and his economy has dropped down to just 5.51.

Tanu Babu, clever leg-spinner, varies his pace nicely and keeps the batsmen guessing, bagged a wicket in his very first ball in ECS cricket.

Shibil Palakkalappi, the all-rounder has been good with the ball picking up three wickets and has contributed with the bat as well scoring 35 runs - second top run scorer for GOZ.

After a challenging opening day, newcomers Gozo turned things around nicely to register their first ever ECS win. GOZ now face Mater Dei who serenely won back-to-back games against SWU and would see these as winnable games too. A couple of wins here would mean MTD will finish at least third in Group B, if not higher.

Match Prediction: Mater Dei (MTD) to rack up twin wins to make it four victories on the trot.
