PREVIEW: MATCH 10 – Roma CC v Jinnah Brescia – European Cricket Series Rome

The European Cricket Network live broadcasts the 2020 European Cricket Series Rome encounter between Roma CC and Jinnah Brescia.

Tune in to the live action Wednesday from 12pm CEST * 11am UK * 10am GMT * 3:30pm IST from the Roma Capannelle Cricket Ground in Italy.

Team Preview for Roma CC

Roma CC won both of their matches on Wednesday quite convincingly against Kings XI and Kent Lanka and so sit at the top of Group B. They will face a much sterner test against the dangerous Jinnah Brescia side.

Captain: Prabath Ekneligoda

Main Wicketkeeper: Sujith Rillagodage

Key Players:

Dinidu Marage will open the batting and can also bowl some left arm spin. He has been particularly impressive with the ball, picking up five wickets in the first two matches. He would love a big score at the top of the order as he hasn’t really fired with the bat just yet.

Sujith Rillagodage might be 45 years of age but he showed yesterday that he can still hit a cricket ball as well as doing a pretty tidy job behind the stumps. He's a former national player of both Qatar and Italy and was man of the match against Kent Lanka.

Prabath Ekneligoda will lead the side and has been playing cricket in Italy for 27 years, scoring 18 centuries and 44 centuries in his glittering career. He also doubles as club coach. Even at 51 years of age, the European Cricket Series will be unlike anything he has experienced before in cricket!

Quirijn Gunning will open the bowling for them and can also provide some late order hitting. He was the man of the match in their first game against Kings XI, turning in a performance of 2 for 13 off his two overs and as well as an invaluable 17 not out off only seven balls batting down at number eight to help steer Roma CC to the target.

Team Preview for Jinnah Brescia

Many had Jinnah as the favourites for the trophy at the start of the week but they suffered a shock loss to Bergamo in their opening match on Tuesday. They have since steadied with themselves with two wins but with this being their last group match, it's their final chance to pick up the win they need that will guarantee them a spot on Super Sunday. They will be without the services of all-rounder Muhammad Imran who misses this match with an injury.

Captain: Ahmed Rukhsar

Main Wicketkeeper: Hassan Ahmad

Key Players:

Muhammad Jafri can really bully the game at the top of the order although we haven't seen him put it all together just yet. We did see in the ECL a year ago what a class player he is, so I'm sure he'd be keen to have a big game in their last group match.

Hassan Ahmad assumed the wicketkeeping duties after the first match. The left is an X-factor player who can hit the ball a long way as we have seen previously on the European Cricket Network.

Muhammad Iqbal is Jinnah’s best spin bowler. The leggie looked a bit rusty early in the series but he's since found his rhythm. When “BALI” gets it right he's very difficult to face indeed.

Malik Mushtaq is "THE WILD THING". This guy has lived up to expectations so far. He is a left arm fast bowler that attacks the stumps and I really enjoy watching him bowl! He hasn’t actually been too wild and has been very economical in addition to picking up wickets during the series.

Mr Maximo’s tip: JINNAH BRESCIA

I actually think that Jinnah’s loss to Bergamo in their opening match on Tuesday has woken them up and they’ll be desperate to beat Roma CC to keep their hopes alive of topping Group B. Roma CC have looked good in their two performances so far but I think Jinnah will be a step up in class and pose a much greater challenge. Jinnah Brescia to win this match, the second of four on Thursday. Don’t miss a minute of the action on the European Cricket Network!
