On a beautifully crisp Autumn day in the Czech capital, Prague CC timed their run perfectly to prevail at the European Cricket Series Prague.

A tense win over Prague Barbarians in Qualifier 2 on Friday morning primed Prague CC for the final. An inspired innings of 55 off 19 balls from Sudesh “The Beast” Wickramasekara powered Prague CC to a daunting total of 102 off 10 overs. In reply, Prague Barbarians fell just short despite a marvellous hand of 67 off 44 balls from Sabawoon Davizi.

In the final, Ritik “The Tank” Tomar produced another powerful knock at the top of the order, but Vinohrady’s progress was stalled by tight spells from Keyur Mehta (2/11) and Sameera Maduranga (2/13). In reply, Prague CC eased to their target with valuable contributions from Sudesh Wickramasekara, Sharan Ramakrishnan and Hilal Ahmad.

The European cricket roadshow moves swiftly from the Czech Republic to Spain for the European Cricket Series Barcelona, starting Monday.
